There was a safe at the top of the tower belonging to KCR. The keys to the safe was deposited at the Report Room of Tsimshatsui Police Station, which would be collected by KCR inspectorate officers around 5am. The safe presumably held the money collected from the fares. In 1974, this was still the practice.
