Hi there,

There are quite a few strange features here in this barbeque site.

1.  A bulk of old concrete approximately in the shape of a cube:

2.  Concrete slabs on the lawn in parallel patterns:

3.  A fenced off area:

4.  What's inside the fence:

Does anybody have any idea what are these things and what why they were there?

Best Regards,

T

Any chance there is / was some sort of water storage below this flat area?

Up above Pok Fu Lam reservoir (climb the staircase on the left near the gate) there is some type of small reservoir. It has a flat top, and rows of ventilation domes, with a concrete slab behind each one that has a small metal plate set in.

Maybe this was something similar?

Hi there,

From what I have read he upper reservoir was built some time after the government then bought the lower reservoir from a paper manufacturer.  That seemed unlikely as the irregular strip of land is on a spur between the two reservoirs.  The lower reservoir is just down the slope.  Building a service reservoir that far away from residential buildings just doesn't seem right.

Hi there,

I wonder shall we use the completion year of the Upper Reservoir, 1931, for these features.

Oh, I finally found out what is the concrete column with the iron door.  It was a rain gauge.
