Causes of Derailment - S Curve (automated track polishing)

 

In the 1964's case, the 90-degree 60-degree S curve, this portion of track worn pretty fast.  Keep up with the track maintenance was not easy.

A multimillion-dollar automated track-polishing and grinding equipment (自動潛弧焊機 Submerged Arc Welding, SAW) was purchased in 2010, 50+ years had past, this modernization allows maintenance to be conducted safely without shutting down busy street.

A tram derailment caused by poor track quality typically results from conditions like severely worn rails, vertical track deflection, or track misalignment.

Inadequate maintenance can allow rails to spread (wide gauge) or track joints to weaken, making the infrastructure unable to safely guide the tram's wheels.

A combination of track defects, mechanical equipment failures, human error, excessive speed, or external obstructions.
