The photo of the old post office at bottom left is postmarked 25 Apr 1964, a Saturday. The photo of the temporary post office at top right is postmarked 27 Apr 1964, a Monday, so I guess these are the dates that the old post office closed and the temporary post office opened.

Sai Ying Pun Post Office (1st generation)
This is a nice postcard photo of the Sai Ying Pun Post Office (1st Generation). This Post Office only occupied a small section of the whole government building, spanning between Second and Third Street. The post office was located at the corner of Third Street and PokFuLam Road. The street on the left side of the photo is Third Street, and the street on the right side of the photo is PokFuLam Road. Other than the post office, the rest of this government building was occupied by the Western Districts Health Office. This government building was actually built in sections though on the map, it looks like one building. The main reason is: This section of PokFuLam Road gradually slopes downhill from Third Street to Second Street. So as to keep the floor flat, the building was built in three sections with its flat concrete foundation laid at slightly different elevations though all 3 sections are butted against each other with a common wall. This postcard also reveals an open area in the backyard. One can see part of the gate on the far left side of the photo. The backyard allowed the post office truck to pick up the mail as close to the post office as possible.

Some tidbits.
I remember John Bull used to have a small shop in Causeway Bay, where the present day Commercial Press Book Store now resided. Decades ago when the building was new it used to host tens of small shop units on its lower floors.
