The ridge line and the slopes does not look like Aberdeen to me. If this is a series of photos including the Ping Kee Kai To one, likely they were taken from the same trip.
The distant ridge is Lantau, so I guess potentially this could have been shot at the western entrance to Aberdeen, or at least not far from it. Was there an Aberdeen <> Tsuen Wan Kaito service in the 70s? Seems like quite a long distance for a little boat.
For those small operators, I believe they have a bit of flexibility concerning how they operate. Some licenses may allow being chartered for a day cruise, but may be limited by the boat's capabilities. But I don't believe there was ever a regular Kai to route between Tsuen Wan and Aberdeen. Cargo boat may be, but not passenger ones.
Once I was being greeted by one such operator in Aberdeen, trying to talk me into their sampan, citing they can even take me as far as Lamma Island.......... without giving me a quote.
I reasoned if they could get me there @$18.- (which was what Chuen Kee was charging) I may consider.
This is the entrance of Aberdeen where my speedboat was moored. I was using it on weekend to waterski in the late 60's early 70's. My friends had a junk where we had lunch together.
it could be moddsey, if we are looking NW across the Chi Ma Wan peninsula...it's a bit hard to discern if CMW is in the image though. It's certainly close enough to Lantau to be Cheung Chau.

After zooming in using a bigger screen I noticed there are overhead cables at the top of the photo resembling those of the Apleichau power plant. I believe it was the illusion of what we saw the ridges and slopes that may have confused us. On the other hand, the number of boats had been in decline in the past few decades.
I wonder, was the photo taken using a longer focal length lens than that of a standard lens (50mm on 135 film) so that it makes the ridge in the background looking much closer than it is?
I was standing next to the HKE pier earlier. There was an overcast and I was unable to see Lantau. I was able to see Hei Ling Chau\Sunshine Island though.
