"hong kong 1984"

This photo was labelled "Hong Kong 1984" by my cousin, Diana Warren, but I was unaware that any of our family was in Hong Kong in 1984 to take it. I'm assuming that the photo was taken from the top of Broadwood Road/Stubbs Road area, if indeed it was taken by a member of the Warren family. I have cropped the photo to cut out the finger that was obscuring the lens on the right, but I can upload the whole photo if wanted. I'm sure that someone will be able to tell me more about the location and whether the date given is correct.

Hi Jill,

The two high rises in the photo are Sun Hung Kai Centre on the right hand side, and China Resources Building on the left.

The photo was likely taken before Broadwood enhancement was completed later in 1984.  The photographer was likely a bit off the junction at Tai Hang Road.  Read some Wiki style page citing back then, Hopewell was trying to buy up all the lots along Broadwood Road for redevelopment.  Owner of #20 had been defiant and gave Gordon Wu a very big head ache.

Many thanks, tngan. Perhaps a friend of the Warren family had been charged with taking a photo of the old location of 20 Broadwood Road while they were in Hong Kong on business or passing through. I must have stood in about the same spot twenty or so years later.

Hi Jill,

The photographer was likely on the southern side of the junction, around the present day location of "The Colonnade".  This being the 'Bridge' of Broadwood Road is clearly visible.
