About the bottom left quadrant of the map.

Shang chwen Shan (or Sancian) is Shangchuan Island 上川島 in today's name.

'Hya chuan' is 下川島 Xiachuan Island today, which is on the west of Shangchuan Island.

Francis Xavier (1506-1552) was first buried on Sancian Island. As it is said, the pilgrimages started only during the 19th Century.

上下川以南 (south of 'Shang Ha Chuen') is one frequently heard description from the fishermen weather report broadcast nighttime daily on RHK (Radio Hong Kong). This may date back to 1960s [^] or earlier, when radios started to be widely available.

Actually, the archipelago is about 150 km south-west of Hong Kong.
