Thank you for adding Mr Hatton to the list of internees. I don't see any mention of him in the Jurors List or the list of government employees, so please do you have any idea when and why he arrived in Hong Kong?
My great grandfather left Wales for Hong Kong in May 1939. He was a mining surveyor is Ystradgynlais for 20 years prior to this.
We're unsure who he was working for, but following his return from Hong Kong he travelled to Africa several times working for the Ministry of Agriculture as a Land Drainage Officer.
I believe he's listed in your records as W W Hatton - Civil Engineer Room 410 of the Nam Ping Hotel.
Thanks for the extra detail. I don't see any mention of him in the Carl Smith cards or the newspapers at MMIS, but hopefully we'll come across a mention in future.

Civilian internee at Stanley Internment Camp between 1942 and 1945.
William was working as a surveyor and civil engineer in Hong Kong and when captured in 1942 was taken to the Nam Ping Hotel.
