This eye-catching streetscape is incorrectly titled: Pottinger Street – a ‘ladder street’ – in Central District, and was captured by the celebrated Hong Kong photographer, Yau Leung (1941-1997). Thanks to colleague Moddsey's sharp, inquiring eye, I should correct the label to be the steps leading up from Hillier Street to Queen's Road Central. In his comments, Moddsey also provides us with the latest, somewhat prosaic, Google Street View - a world so changed! But fun to compare!

Not Pottinger Street
I think the building on the right is the Central Theatre The architectural moulding appears to be the same. The steps lead from Hillier Street to Queen's Road Central.
Relabelling
Thanks Moddsey. Yes, as well as the architectural features you have pointed out, I can also now see the character for Central on the base of the building. Are these steps technically a part of Hillier Street? I would be grateful for any help you can give me with my relabelling. Sorry for the bother.
Re: Relabelling
No bother at all. Hillier Street steps leading up to Queen's Road Central can be viewed on Google Street View The steps are still there today.
