I think the photo shows the southern junction of Nathan Road and Waterloo Road. The building under scaffolding should be Nathan Apartments at 506-512 Nathan Road. The building was completed in 1958 which makes the photo date just about right. Yau Ma Tei/King's Park Hill is on the left.
This section of Nathan Road had huge advertisements on the side of buildings or hoardings on rooftops for watches, pens etc... In the main photo at mid-right, one can also see a rooftop hoarding for Enicar watches which can also be viewed here but looking north on Nathan Road.
