I have a few photos connected with the large edifice at the end of the road in this picture. I would have taken it in 1955,somewher in the New Territories, probably not too far from Sek Kong. I remember going to see a Chinese opera at Kam Tin at one time but it seems to be rather large for that. Does the religious figure in the second photo have any significance?
Large edifice NT -second photo.
I'm afraid that I haven't got the hang of making a post yet and seem to have failed to get the second photo in. Here goes again. Is he a taoist priest by the way?
Da Jiu
Hi Curly, it's possibly one of the temporary structures erected for the once a decade celebrations for "Da Jiu". Different villages celebrate them at different times. If so, the Taoist priest was perhaps there for one of the spiritual cleansing rituals?
