Thank you kpl. Long forgotten until now - I stood outside that one level building wondering whether it was a kitchen or a shed. And a bit of the memory of the steep ground. I don't remember the lawn in the foreground.
After walking in through the door* (read more below), the service desk was about 12 feet ahead a bit to my left (roughl300 degrees), or was it on my right -? This is the key to confirm the entrance I used. On the right side of the desk, behind the staff, was a long, narrow and steep staircase to level-2. I am sure it was placed right next to a wall (I used it several times) and there was (not 100% sure) a window halfway up I could see outside. At the top of the stairs, there was not much room and I made a 90-degree left turn then a few steps to a small lounge. At that spot, I turned right, walked a short distance to the railings overlooking the dining area below. I did not see a second staircase if it existed. The overlooking bit indicates it was a partial floor and did not extend the whole interior perimeter.
*If these memories are correct, you can help me locating the door - on the left wall in this photo? or the wall facing the camera? Wish the owner would give you a tour. Many thanks. Regards, Peter

The G/F door on the eastish side of the house is blocked by the tallest red shrub just in front of the concrete path parallel with the wall of the house - the door is surrounded by the window visible to the left in this pic behind that shrub. From the position I took that photo, the shrub blocks the entirety of the door. At the top, you can see three panes of glass. Below the centre pane is the door.
The building behind the house could very well be a kitchen/servants' quarters/etc sort of thing. A friend of mine who built a house around 1960 at the end of Clearwater Bay Road had something similar.
My mention of a second staircase was just an attempt to poke your memory - if there was one, you might have remembered it.
I'm now of the opinion that perhaps some of your recollection suffers somewhat due to the passage of time - perfectly understandable & par for the course - but now there's just too much of your recollection that jives with fact as so much (if not all, other than perhaps the garage) on the lot is clearly original construction.
I wonder if perhaps after completion of the construction of the house, prior to occupation as such, it was put to another use. Who else was using the pool? Do you recall anything to suggest money was changing hands for anyone using it? I have to admit when I was that age, I would have been oblivious to anything of the sort.
We seem to be on a bit of a roll now, so if there's anything else I might be able to do to help keep it up, please let me know.

Peter, I have yet to find again the photo of the old-Tsuen Wan now-Kwai Shing Pool that started all this, but the tangent philk & Andrew Suddaby helped get us onto seems to have yielded quite satisfactory results & is a more than adequate consolation prize.
I will try to leave a note with the friendly security guard lady soon to pass on to the owner & hopefully it might lead to having an opportunity to help further.
