Hall (vestibule) of Tregeunter Mansions in November 1925, 2 May Road. My grandparents P. Marks and M.G. Marks-Groot (both from the Netherlands) lived there at that time. My grandfather worked there for the Nederlandsch-Indische Handelsbank

Why Tregunter?
What is Tregunter Mansions named after?
Who or What?
I would guess that Tregunter was named after a place, not a person. Around there, that buildings are called Branston, Tavistock, Luginsland,Friston, Balmacara, Clovelly, Aigburth, and Abertholwyn - which are all place names.
Do you who named it back in…
Do you who named it back in 1914 when built?
Who named it?
If it was a private house, the owner would name it. There are cases where a house changed names, when there was a new owner, and also 2 different houses had the same name, I presume when the owner moved.
The next building on the site often had the same name, so I guess the developer just chose to reuse the name.
In the same way, the developer got to choose the name of the new building, if it was a new site.
Humphries was the developer in May Road after WW2, maybe they were the developer in 1914,
and the name would have been picked by one of the managers.
(By the way, I'm Alun Chisholm)
