I remember reading somewhere a reference to some bunkers on Ap Lei Chau (Aberdeen Island as it was known). So I took a look about and think that I found them. At the far end of the Island you have South Horizons then Ap Lei Chau estate, where there is a small path (behind the Fire station) leading down to waterfront opposite Aberdeen, along which I took the following photo’s. They have all been blocked up and some rapscallions have sprayed graffiti everywhere, but they do look consistent to other bunkers

I wonder what the bunkers were used for? Maybe they were connected with the battery that T describes?

According to a book printed in Chinese about Hong Kong marine and costal defences that particular bunker is part of the Aberdeen Battery.

First Aid Post
In the late 1930s, several machine-gun pillboxes were constructed to defend Hong Kong. These pillboxes often had first aid posts being built nearby. These First Aid Posts were staffed by the Air Raid Precaution wardens as well as St John Ambulance volunteers.
Aberdeen Island First Aid Post was constructed to service the pillboxes nearby. The markings on the 2 bunkers were not graffiti. Instead, these markings of diagonal white stripes on a red cross (similar to the modern Caritas logo) served to clearly identify the building as an aid station under the 1929 Geneva Conventions.
The above information was taken from a fact sheet posted on the fence right in front of the bunkers anonymously. However, this sheet was being removed already.
