Could this be an example of the 'hand-operated, cast-iron roller' described in Klaus's informative post 'Construction of Roads in Hong Kong in the early 20th century'? Found by a friend, somewhere in the vicinity of the Peak.

Very interesting discovery. It definitely looks like a hand-operated roller, but made of stone instead of iron. Although badly rusted, the handle is still there. Possibly used more for paths than roads. Replaced long time ago by heavier motor-driven rollers.
