Shatin floating restaurant (multiple locations) [1963-1984]

it's quite obvious the restaurant moved around a fair bit. On the 1963 aerial survey it was located at the end of a long board walk attached to the coastline by Lok Lo Ha.

In the 1960s, the restaurant was between Shatin and Fo Tan train stations  on the Shing Mun river or rather Shatin Hoi (Shatin sea) at that time. In other words near Lung Wah Hotel and Lek Yuen Estate today.

After it closed down, it was moved to mouth of Fo Tan river next to Fo Tan road.  In other words, the above map is not correct for the 1960s and 1970s. It was there only in the 1980s after it closed down.

I've updated the location and the title to show the first location.

It seems the marker is totally off. It should be around  (22.38620766881563, 114.19674612557311)

Around the midpoint between Fo Tan Road and Shatin Rural Committee Road. Off Lung Wah hotel. Approximately along the Tak Hau Street.

The main marker is set for the 1963 Lok Lo Ha location.

Air view of Shatin around 1975. One can see the floating restaurant off the Lek Yuen estate completed in 1975.

It soon would close down in the 1980s and moved away while the Shatin Sea on the right was reclaimed to become the Shing Mun river.

According to 1967 年香港年鑑, address of Shatin Floating Restaurant was given as Ho Tung Lau, location near the current Shatin race course

This would correspond with the original marker of this page (more or less). It would be nice to narrow down when it moved to the south.

Photo of the gate to shatin floating restaurant in 1977 captured from a TV series called "小時候" . The bus stop should be on the Shatin Bypass road parallel to and east of Tai Po road. The bus was heading south.  Restaurant on the right. Lek Yuen estate should be on the left (not in picture).

The bus number 170 for this stop in 1977 would start from Tai Po Rd terminus, pass through  Shatin Bypass road and Lion Rock tunnel going to Aberdeen.

Hong Kong's famous Shatin floating restaurant has moved last month to Shatin Bypass road due to reclamation by the government. The location is more exotic and scenic than before. It is just a few minute walk from the train station. Famous cooks serving fresh fishes live shrimps, young pigeons and fat chickens. It is the best place to dine for Hong Kong people. The restaurant has a spacious parking lot for customers. It also has its own buses to transport customers between the train station and restaurant. Early reservation is welcome. tel........

This 1984 jun 11 news report more or less confirms its date of closure. It says the government asked it to move again and refused to assign a permanent location for the restaurant. It had plan to move to Canton as it costs a lot of money for moving. It also said it had moved a few times in the past 4 years. That means the second move probably was in 1980.
