After the Japanese occupied Hong Kong in 1941, they interned allied bankers in this building.
The location is given by Tony Banham on the website www.mansell.com:
I believe the wartime address was: 121 Connaught Road, Victoria, Hong Kong and the modern site is: 121 Connaught Road Central, Hong Kong

The street number still remains, as serviced apartment
When I typed in the "looks familiar" address in google map, the result turns up as the serviced apartment which I stayed there for more than one year, when I started my work here in HK in 2004. Walking every day to the Exchange Square and back, via the nearby overhead footbridge.
Re: Sun Wah Hotel
A luggage label from the 1920s (a guess) confirms the address is 121 Connaught Road Central.
