We believe this is the hospital Martin Booth refers to in Chapter 3 of 'Golden Boy'. Although not mentioned by name, its proximity and age make it the most likely candidate.
The hospital officially opened on 9th October 1911
"The Kwong Wa Hospital, at Yaumati, is to be opened on Monday, October 9th, at 4 p.m. by His Excellency the Governor. Special launches are to leave Blake Pier at 3.30 p.m."
Kwong Wah Hospital is located on Waterloo Road. There used to be a YMCA in the vicinity. Wah Yan College is nearby across the road. Also across the road from the hospital, there is a flight of steps that would lead up to a hill top and from there, one could hike around to the exclusive King's Park housing which I believe doesn't exist anymore.

There's a good view of the hospital's early layout on the 1920 map: https://gwulo.com/node/2324#18/22.31495/114.17150/Map_by_ESRI-1920_Kowl…
The main building at that time is the building Phil mentions, that has survived until today and now houses the museum.

This may be the opening in 1911 or some other special occasion soon thereafter. The queues are evident on the Chinese attendees.

I walked past here yesterday and the older block, containing the east/north wings/A&E has been demolished.
