The history of the Aberdeen Post Office is quite well known from 1950s onwards but not so before that time. It is thought to have been in this location but acting as a type of agency/kiosk before and after WWII. The GPO delivery postman would open the facility for a couple of hours daily to sort mail and sell stamps. This service was extended on 18 February 1959 into a properly functioning, albeit small, post office as shown in the photograph with a clerk in charge. Postal services for the Aberdeen public developed from there.
