I'm hoping to go to this ... or rather I was, but I notice that at least half of it is in Cantonese. As a non-speaker, does anyone have any idea if such talks come with any translation usually ... ?
Thanks!
I don't expect there will be
I don't expect there will be translation. I hadn't noticed the first half is in Cantonese but will still go and hopefully the presentation slides / photos are clear enough to follow along and get an idea of what's being covered. The advert says there is a photo exhibition too, so you could spend some time at that if the presentation isn't working.
It's in English!
Hi Patricia,
The page you linked to with the Chinese talk is for an event on Monday 20th.
The RAS talk on Sunday 19th is described at https://www.uchicago.hk/events/on-the-verge-of-metropolis-squatters-in-hong-kong-royal-asiatic-society-hong-kong-talks/ which says the talks are in English, so no need to worry about translation.
Hope to see you there tomorrow,
David
