Hi Tunster.This is my photo of the Hotel taken on 5th March 1957 during shore leave while HMT. Nevasa was docked in the harbour, as you can see both your father and myself were standing in the same place, although I now know we were not there at the same time as your dads photo shows a notice board this side of the hedge on roadside saying -Raffles Hotel- On my photo this notice board is not there. The rear of photo says- The Raffles Hotel is on the opposite side of the road to the Brittania Club.- This was a site for military forces in Singapore with an excellent swimming pool really appreciated after weeks at sea in cramped conditions. Last night on TV. Channel 5 I watched a 1 hour documentary on This iconic Hotel, just a coincidence?
Hi Bryan yes I missed that documentary though it may not have been much use to me. Anyway I will up load a picture of my dads trunk with his army no etc .
