Charles worked at Holland-China Trading Company in 1939. Twenty years earlier, Bob de Vries' father worked for HCHC in Hong Kong. This photo shows members of the Dutch community at the time.

Original caption reads: "Hong Kong 1919 - - Members of the Netherlands community in Hong Kong. Notice the shortage of women!" An arrow indicates 'Pa', Dutch for dad.

The Comacrib Directory of China (1925, Google Books, p. 66), lists the following about the Dutch Club in Hong Kong:
"Hollandsche Club - Tel. Add.: C. 520-2 Connaught Road.
A.W. van Andel, President.
D.H. te Wechel, Vice President.
A. Huysser, Hon. Sec.
A.H. van der Mijll Dekker, Hon. Treas.
A. Groot, Asst. Sec."

A.W. van Andel and D.H. te Wechel were both employed by Holland-China Trading Company.
