The earliest mentions of F C Clemo are in the Jurors Lists.

1921-23:

c Clemo Frederick Charles Engineer China Light & Power Co.         Kowloon

1925-29:

c Clemo Frederick Charles Superintendent China Light & Power Co., Ld.   On premises

At the time of writing we're still working on the lists for 1930-40. He isn't mentioned in the 1941 list.

He married Elizabeth Tollan on 14th Feb 1921. Here's the report on the wedding from page 4 of The Hong Kong Telegraph, 1921-02-14:

LOCAL WEDDING.

Mr. F. C. Clemo—Miss Tollan.

A wedding of considerable local interest took place at St. John's Cathedral this afternoon, when Miss Elizabeth Whittaker Tollan, daughter of Mr. Duncan Tollan, of the China and Japan Telephone Co., was married to Mr. Frederick Charles Clemo. A large number of friends assembled in the Cathedral to witness the ceremony and later at Wiseman's Cafe, where the reception was held.

The bride was attired in a creation of white satin charmeuse and georgette, with net and pearl trimming, and a veil of tulle, trimmed with pearl and orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white and pink roses, and was given away by her father. She was attended by Miss Annie Tollan as bridesmaid, and by the Misses Lorna and Dorothy Tollan, and Edith Moses, as flower-girls. The bride wore a dress of apricot satin charmeuse, with cream lace and carried a bouquet of tea roses. The flower girls carried baskets of sweet peas. Mr. Leslie Elwood was “best man." The Rev. V. H. Copley Moyle performed the ceremony.

The honeymoon will be spent at Canton and Macao, the bride's going-away dress being accordian pleated with cape, and her hat of black satin.

The couple were the recipients of numerous presents. That from the bridegroom to the bride was a silver hand-bag, from the groom to the bridesmaid, a gold pendant, and to the flowergirls, gold crub bracelets.

Fred Clemo is mentioned several times in the book POWER by Nigel Cameron, the history of China Light & Power Co.

Much later, I believe he may have had a shop/travel agency or local tours business in the Peninsula Hotel lobby during the 1970s onwards

Frederick Charles Clemo was born in Newry, County Down, Ireland in late 1897 (December quarter, Ireland Civil Registration Indexes)

In the British Census of 1911 he was overseas (age 13) in Cape Town, South Africa with the 2nd Battalion, Duke of Cornwallis Light Infantry at Staff Headquaters, where presumably his father was there in a military capacity in Bloemfontein, Orange Free State.

He was on the ship Asamu Maru (sailed from Shanghai 9th March 1935) from Hong Kong to San Francisco, United States of America (aged 37, Engineer) with his wife Elizabeth, housewife (aged 33, born in Edinburgh, Scotland) and schoolboy son Frederick Junior (aged 11, born in Hong Kong) and daughter Laureen Clemo (aged 3 years, born in Hong Kong). Their stated last permanent residence for all of them was Hong Kong.

“Appointed Lay Representatives
