Yes Andrew, you are correct in your observations about the Luk Kwok Hotel and the filling station. The photo shows that the filling station had not been constructed and had not immediately replaced the previous SOCONY super service station (built in 1938) that I presume was destroyed during WWII.

Admiralty Floating Dock
Nice picture. This is the Admiralty Floating Dock before its departure in 1955 as noted here: https://gwulo.com/node/36173
I also note that Caine House in Arsenal Yard is under construction. The building was completed in 1954. So spot on the year of the photo.
