Does anyone have information on what, if anything, is happening to commemorate the huge loss of life at the Race Course fire a hundred years ago this month? Thanks, Patricia
I haven't seen anything mentioned. If you don't get any better leads, could be worth visiting the memorial on the 25th to see if anyone is setting up for the following day.
There is no press release from either Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (the care taker of the monument) or the Jockey Club in the past couple of days. But it is still a bit more than two weeks. There might be updates later. On the other hand, I wonder if it may have something to do with Lunar New Year as we Chinese don't usually talk about the death close to Lunar New Year.
Annemarie says the 1st March episode of her Hong Kong Heritage programme will look at this, and it will also be mentioned on Radio 3 on the anniversary day.

Hi There,
There is no press release from either Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (the care taker of the monument) or the Jockey Club in the past couple of days. But it is still a bit more than two weeks. There might be updates later. On the other hand, I wonder if it may have something to do with Lunar New Year as we Chinese don't usually talk about the death close to Lunar New Year.
Thanks & Best Regards,
