For the sake of clarity: this was the wall for the "Front Dam" below Stanley Tce on the east side.
The path up to Stanley Tce was a moderately inclined suspended walkway up the side of the dam wall, where this pic was taken from, on the south side of King's Rd and directly opposite Taikoo Dockyard.
Note the damage to the wall from Japanese shelling in 1941. I think the spillway half way up the wall may have been cut as a result; presumably prior to that the reservoir was much deeper, and would have lapped not much below "Bottom Tce". - Geoff
