Apparently this hotel was a popular location for filming kung fu flicks in the 60's and 70's, and it caused me no end of headaches last year trying to nail the place. Thankfully I can see that the Shui Pin Wai information wasn't far off at all.
I went to the Rose Garden a few times with NT-based buddies. It was near Yuen Long. A big (partly open air?) pub/restaurant with a stage for floor shows. Not a hotel as far as I can remember.
David:
It's listed in the Hotel section of the map book's index, but I'm not sure if there was really any accomodation.
This establishment was situated slightly to the west of the current Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church, at the location where "Villa By The Park" now is.
Yes, there was indeed "accommodation" there.
The accommodation was almost exclusively for the “bring your own” brigade (with selection usually from downstairs).
During the mid 1970s I conducted a number of “W&J” checks there …

Thanks David, all we need now are some pics.
