Unidentified Building

There are no information other than stating this photo was taken in 1964.   The fuzzy words high up are not possible to read.  (source: Uwants.com)

The front entrance reminds me that of Pei Ho Theatre on Pei Ho Street, Sham Shui Po.  However, in 1964, actually well before that, the street was already a busy place.   Was it possible in 1964 Hong Kong to have a power line post on the intersection?   And its next door neighbour do not look like pre-war shop houses.  Are those foreign service men in French uniform and a US officer ?  Thanks for identifying this building.  OldTimer

Hi Peter

This doesn't even look like HK to me. The curved roof of the temple reminds me very much of the Taiwanese style of temples and the way the roofs often dip in the centre. HK temples are quite straight across the ridge of the roof. The street also seems to be too wide for HK. So perhaps this is Taiwan somewhere or another Asian country with a Chinatown and/or population of Chinese (Fujianese?). Just some thoughts randomly spewing from my fingertips.
