Egg Stall on Kam Wa Street

This lady was very carefully selecting duck(?) eggs - ignoring the '100 year old' ones.  Were the latter, the ones that I was treated to in 1958 that had purple yolks?

Greetings,  I believe they were chicken eggs.  The shop keeper would verify the quality by shining through it with a light bulb. Those on the left are salted duck eggs and the black coating is salted charcoal paste.  The eggs with purple yolks (must be somewhere in this photo) are preserved eggs (100-year, 1000-year, actually it takes much less time to make) and they sell them still coated with dry mud and rice husk.  Regards,   Peter
