“Before hostilities this man was employed as a Clerk in Chinese Command HQs; after the capitulation he volunteered for service with the BAAG and for over 3½ years performed with great credit the duties of confidential clerk to the Adjutant. He is specially to be commended for his excellent service during the long and arduous evacuation – extending over four months – of HQs from Kweilin to Kunming. He looked after our valuable administration records and kept these up to date under most adverse circumstances, and the efficiency of this department was in no small measure due to his untiring devotion to duty.” (signed) L T Ride, Colonel.
