Just to stir up the controversy regarding the naming of the Peninsula Court again, here is a film still from 1962's Heisser Hafen Hongkong (Eng: Hot Harbour Hong Kong). This still shows the signage on the side of a hotel shuttle bus calling at the Peninsula Hotel, Marco Polo - Peninsula Court and Hongkong Hotel - Repulse Bay.
I'm fairly certain detail like this would not be a mock-up for such an obscure 1960s German film.
From this it looks as though the Marco Polo signage on the side of the Peninsula Court hotel was part of the hotel name and not just referring to the restaurant.
