Granville Road - Firewood (1950)

Tue, 07/04/2017 - 10:37

This photo reminds me of a short Folk Lyrics I learned back home -

Pouring rain, flooding streets, older brother carrying firewood up the street to sell, auntie landing into flowering shoes.

I think they are firewood.  No rain in this photo, but the memory is the same.  The last phrase implicitly means that she is getting out of bed, hence   降地 (= getting out of bed).

My English translation aimed to have the same subject-sequence as in the Cantonese lyrics.  Corrections and the Cantonese lyrics are welcome.
