I am hoping someone in the Hong Kong community may remember my old friend and colleague Lau Kwok Yim, whom we knew as Charly (or Charlie).
We worked together on the luxury cruise ship Sea Goddess II (Cunard) in 1991–1992. I was a stewardess and Charly was the Laundry Chef.
Hong Kong was his home. I visited Hong Kong around 25 November 1998, hoping to see him, but he had just left to join a large cruise ship in Florida.
He had a daughter who was around 20 years old and studying at the time. Charly also once told me that his dream was eventually to open a restaurant in Hong Kong.
I have been trying to find him for many years and would simply love to know how he is and, if he wishes, to get back in contact.
I am attaching a photograph of Charly from those days.
Does anyone recognise Lau Kwok Yim / Charlie Lau, or perhaps remember him from Hong Kong's seafaring or cruise-ship community?
