My mother Matilda Hardoon was the youngest of her family of 7 children and her parents interned in Stanley camp There are mentions of them in Barbara Anslow’s book. My mother is aged 89 years old and is the only living survivor of her family. Her sister Diana Elias took the Ministry of Defence to court regarding them not paying the compensation for being interned in a Japanese prisoner of war camp even though you held British passports. If you were not born in the UK or your parents or grandparents were not born in The UK you would not receive compensation. However the High court ruled against the MOD
