Born in Hong Kong to John Crichton McDouall and Kathleen Glover McDouall (nee Moir). I have two sisters, Anne Higgens and Heather Swanson, also Hong Kong born. My father was Secretary for Chinese Affairs from 1959 to 1966. My mother was imprisoned in Stanley camp and my father in Sham Shui Po and Argyle Street camps.
