Well the Canadians got away yesterday - a horrid wet day and all their hand luggage lay on the jetty for an hour or more in heavy rain so it would be sodden.  I'll only have 2 rattan baskets and my attache case when I go on board - ALL the rest will go in the hold.  I have the camphor wood box with your fur coat etc; my big leather suitcase and my dirty linen bag with blankets.  The ship now called the Teia Maru is the old Messagerie Maritime "Aramis" (or Felix Roussell) - with squat square funnels - latest additions to the M.M.

The repatriation ship Teia Maru of 17530 tons ex 'Aramis' (French Mail) arrived off Stanley on Wednesday evening 22nd inst. amidst very heavy rain. The Canadians had instructions to board her next day, first to be outside the prison at 12.30 for inspection of luggage. Actually the tender from the pier took them on board at 5pm and the vessel sailed at 9.20pm bound for Goa for exchange with the 'Gripsholm', 62 Canadians and 2 Americans left.

They have gone! Everything went according to schedule. On the 22nd the weather turned really dirty and we had another severe gale – another typhoon somewhere about: we have had typhoon weather three times now during the last 3 weeks which is exceptional, for the typhoon season is generally over by the end of August and if, by chance, a belated typhoon does come along, it generally comes unattended by others.

Fine, hot.

The British Army Aid Group receives a message from internee Geoffrey Wilson, the former Assistant Superintendent of Police for the New Territories. Wilson is replying to a letter sent on June 21 to Walter Scott ('S.') who's been arrested, and his message was sent out of camp through the Indian guards:

There's a party of six of us here, all of similar qualifications to writer, ready and determined to get away as soon as we hear from you.
