Pier in Kuk Po (north-eastern part of the New Territories, to the south of Starling Inlet, opposite to Sha Tau Kok).
Today there is a ferry connection to Sha Tau Kok, but a permit is required to enter Sha Tau Kok. More on wikipedia.
Guest author Klaus Liphard describes how the boundary between the New Territories and China was created in the 1890s.
Introduction
At the end of the 19th century, the Chinese Qing Empire was weak. This was utilized by foreign powers - France, Germany, Russia, and also Great Britain - to force China to lease territories to them.
See the story behind at The Anglo Chinese Boundary 1898
Mr. Stewart Lockhart's report:
The Northern Boundary commences at the point of high water-mark in Mirs Bay where the meridian of 114°.30' East cuts the land and follows that high water-mark to the point marked with a peg immediately to the West of the market town locally known as Tung Wo Hü and sometimes called Shat'aukok.
Marker set in the morning of the 17th March, 1899.

Quite narrow bridge. Demolished as it possibly was not fit for vehicle passage.
The Report on the New Territory for the year 1900 (page 20) refers:
The masonry of the abutments and piers of the Tai Wai bridge, 3 spans of 30 feet clear, was completed in the year.
The Public Works Report for 1901 refers:
The road is open to rickshaw traffic throughout its entire length of 18 miles from Tsim Sha Tsui Point to Tai Po.
The beacon located on the peak near Ping Fung Shan. Even though it's quite far from Tai Po Tau, but according to the beacon scale and shape, there have chance as that one.
Hi There
This is what's left of the gateway of a private estate. Likely to have a wall surrounding the property. Now being used as a landmark in a public park at the location.

Hello,
I'm looking for photos or other material taken in the Ping Shan of the New Territories before 1980. My family had an ancestral memorial (graves) there, within walking distance of Old Ping Shan police station. It was exhumed owing to the development of Hong Kong in the late 80's or so.
The location of the original site has been lost. I would like to collect more images and information of the surrounding area at the time, for the benefit of future generations.
