The Officers' Mess and entrance to the Tech. Block. Old cars were stilll being used well into the late 1950s. Is it a Ford? (Andrew S)

Little Sai Wan Astra

R.A.F. Little Sai Wan's new Astra cinema opened in the summer of 1958.

R.A.F. Little Sai Wan Gibson Wing on the left and Portal wing.  The camp was kept supplied by the Bedford 3 ton lorries.  They also provided the usual means of transport, 'gharries' for personnel going into the town. (Andrew S)

The cave, which was probably a Japanese observation post, was where the camp road came closest to the ridge.  Looking at the image I wondered what the white area at the top was, but I remember that the cave's roof was very close to the ridge line and that it had at least one 'Dorman and Long' steel girder holding it up. Rather than being a cave it was possibly of a cut and cover construction.  (Andrew S)
