While at Lyemun camp, Ewart spent time exploring the Shaukiwan area.  The sampans in the foreground were beached homes.  (Andrew S)

Judging by where access was relatively easy in the 1950s by bus or train, I wonder whether this was on the Castle Peak road or even heading further over towards Taipo Market?  It doesn't look like the road between Shatin and Taipo Market.  That huge house might be a clue? (Andrew S)

I remember seeing men using these nets in the Yuen Long and Kam Tin area.  Any thoughts.  The mountain range might provide a clue.  (Andrew S)

Empire Pride 1952.

Ewart sailed out to Hong Kong on the Empire Pride.

Empire Trooper.

Ewart returned to the U.K. on the Empire Trooper.  She was another ex German liner and had been captured by H.M.S. Belfast on 3 September 1939.  She was scrapped in 1955. Physical work-outs on the deck do not seem to have been very popular.  (Andrew S)
