Defence against the PLA, 1949 onwards?

If the British administration was indeed anticipating a Chinese invasion from 1949 onwards, did they manage to pull together a coherent defence plan?

What official conclusions did they draw from the defeat of Christmas 1941?

I understand that AA-guns were installed in Sai Wan Battery in the 1950s, but the construction of new military facilities in the New Territories in the 1950s (after they have blown up much of the Gin Drinker's Line) seems to me a completely new concept.
