Can anyone shed light on the Fleur de Lys decorations on the staircase at North Kowloon Magistracy?
It may be that either the Architect, or a member of the Hong Kong Judiciary had an interest in this particular decoration, which has featured in Coats of Arms of both the British and French for centuries.
Thanks, Tony. <tcarroll@netvigator.com>

Hi - you can see the fleur de lys decorations in the photos from page 50 of the government's heritage investigation into the building ahead of its conversion to private use.

architect was Palmer and Turner, builders of so much of old Hong Kong. Doesn't explain the use of the symbol though, which is clearlythe dominant feature of the staircases

Many thanks for your contribution. If I do discover the reason for its' use at this location, I will certainly report it in this Blog.
