Architects in Hong Kong, c.1850-1950

Submitted by iwhiteley on

Greetings. I'm new to Gwulo but it's already been an invaluable resource for my research into British-East Asian architectural networks, c.1850-1950 - thank you!

I'm particularly keen to hear from any members with family links to architects who were active in Hong Kong during this period. I've identified a few key practices (e.g. Palmer & Turner, Chau & Lee, Clark & Iu, Norman & Dawbarn) and individuals, and have no doubt there are more to discover. Any pointers, family recollections, etc. gratefully received!

Shaping Modernity: British-East Asian Architectural Networks, c.1850-1950

The following is the publication that you need. I have a copy (6 pages) on my desktop - my grandfather, C. E. Warren was an architect within your period - but am not sure how to send it to you. Email?  Maybe David also has a copy.

THE 100 YEARS ARCHITECTS IN HONG KONG 1841-1941, Tony Lam Chung Wai, Director of AGC Design Ltd.

I'm sure you will also know that CE Warren & Co was responsible for the Ridge development and many of the houses in Broadwood Road. My uncle, Leslie Warren, also an architect, took over the company on his father's death in 1923 until the war. David can give you my email if you need any specific details.
