TWELVE TRIPS ON THE ISLAND.
-
PROGRAME NO. 1.

From the Peak via Pokfolum to the Clock Tower.

Leaving the Peak Tramway Station take the road to the left, when, on the right hand will be seen a well kept winding path leading down the hill. In the distance the Maison de Nazareth, the Sanitorium de Bethanie and the Pokfulam Reservoir, with pretty slopes and mountain ridges and peaks in every direction, help to make up the view. The picture is full of interest. The beautiful sea studded with islands, the distant mountain range on Lantau with the far distant estuary of the Canton River; and, if the
evening is chosen for the walk, a brilliant Sun-set will probably close the scene.

On arriving at the bottom turn to the right past the Police station, the Douglas Castle and Santa Lucia. The road here is very pretty almost like a cliff walk with Mount Davis to the left. Many windings and a very gradual descent brings us within sight of two forts.

Here, an extensive reclamation of the sea shore, also to our left, shows us the Rope works, the Silk Filature Factory and the Cattle depôt: keeping on past the forts, with a sudden turn to the right, some of the West-end residences, the City of Victoria with its harbour full of shipping, and the Kowloon peninsula in the distance.

Continue on, still following to the same road, when half an hour later the R. C. Cathedral will appear in front of you. Take the turning to the left down the steps and you will in a few minutes reach the Clock Tower.

The 4 o'clock Tram is recommended for this trip.
