25 May 1943, Leo Landau's wartime diary

The American Merchant Service complained to Boon - they did not wish to be under a British O.C. The matter was placed before the Japanese. Mr Standa acted on behalf of the Japanese in a very active and prompt manner by lining all 18 complainers and giving them a taste of "face stimulation". I don't think they will be in any hurry to complain again.

On Thursday the camp will be inspected by some very high Japanese officals.

Edward Hearly returned with the Bowen Rd crowd. He looks very well now.
