Building ID request - Kowloon waterfront??

Dear all, 

I'd be grateful for your help with this one. It's an image I haven't seen before - from a postcard dated (and sent in) 1905.

My initial thought was that the prominent building on the left was the Sharp & Co building on the Kowloon waterfront - but on closer inspection, this building doesn't quite have the symmetrical shape of or quite the same look as the Sharp building (either its front (ie. south) or side (ie. east) aspect). 

There's quite a long, grand-looking building behind the junk which doesn't quite feel like an industrial wharf building; more like Victoria View Terrace (perhaps!). That location would seem to work for old Tsim Sha Tsui, but, again, the Sharp building doesn't look quite right...

Nor can the prominent building be the Marine Police Headquarters (that's on higher ground, for one thing).

Might it be somewhere else in Hong Kong? Or maybe the Sharp building had some work done and it didn't normally look like this?!

The terrain in the photo is too flat to be Hong Kong. If it was taken in anywhere along the Hong Kong coastal, there would be hills or mountains on the horizon in the background. It looks like Pearl River in Guangdong Province to me

Thanks. I did wonder about that too. (I think you’re right; even Kowloon you’d see the hills). Haven’t been able to identify any likely candidates yet though…
