Sir Geoffry Alexander Stafford Northcote, KCMG KStJ (羅富國;9 February 1881 – 10 July 1948) was a British colonial administrator.
He entered the Colonial Service in 1904 and served in Kenya (the East African Protectorate) from 1904 to 1927. He became Chief Secretary of Northern Rhodesia a year later, and served there until 1930. Afterwards, Northcote served as the Chief Secretary of Gold Coast, until 1934 and as Governor and Commander-in-Chief of British Guiana from 1935 to 1937.
During his tenure, the Second Sino-Japanese War broke out, and battles broke out throughout mainland China.
After the fall of Guangzhou, Sir Geoffry Alexander Stafford Northcote, then Governor of Hong Kong, enacted the Conscription Act, requiring all young men and women born in Hong Kong to serve in the British Army or other civil defense agencies in order to counter the Japanese Empire, which was preparing to expand its aggression to the European and American colonies in Asia.
He was dogged by continuous ill health during his tenure and took a six-month medical leave to the United Kingdom, which ultimately led to his early retirement.
Sir Geoffry Northcote, his ashes buried on 12 Sep 1950 AND Lady E.J.M. Northcote, died on 28 Feb 1958 aged 76, buried in same plot in the Nairobi City Park cemetery, Kenya.
