Central Escalator Link Alley Shopping Arcade (中環 購物廊)

Hi everyone:

I am new here at Gwulo.  I've lived in HK for 12 years and loved old HK as my dream city before I lived here.  In 1994, I wrote a book about Southern California that was a bit famous and juxtaposed history with where to go and what to do in the current world called Romancing the Southland.

I became an English teacher in middle age and through a twist of fate, ended up living in Japan, China, Korea, and then, by a miracle, met my dream HK girl and moved here to my dream city to get married in 2014.  I've been teaching and building a private English business -- but made a few videos as a hobby for a YouTube channel called "Asian Dreams."  The most popular one is "Hong Kong Neon Love Song."  Lately, I've been wanting to put more effort into the channel. I want to boost Hong Kong, but support small businesses and what little historic preservation there is.

I'm currently making a short YouTube video about "Street Food Central," which is 1/2 of the renovated 2nd floor of Central Market.  It used to be called the "Central Escalator Link Alley Shopping Arcade" (中環 購物廊).  It was the corridor you walked through from IFC to the Escalators.  I remember it when I first got here: it was a bit run down, but had what looked like some old tailor shops (I remember one had a military-ish looking dress kilt ensemble in the window.) They tore out all the shops and painted it like the jungle for a short time, then it was closed and reopened as Street Food Central.

Does anyone have any old photos of what it looked like as the Central Escalator Link Alley Shopping Arcade I could use in the video?  I thought I took a few pictures of it, but I can't find them and there don't seem to be any on the Internet and there are none on the Central Market website.

I love the heart and effort that goes into this site.  God bless you all!

Thanks so much!

Best, Rob

Thanks Wongm!  I found one on Wikipedia before I got your reply.  I liked one of the ones you gave a link to -- it was near the end, before the rennovation of Central Market, when they painted it green like the jungle as part of a campaign called "Central Oasis."  I found three more on Almy.  One of the ones on Almy was what I was looking for.

Anyway, I finished the video and posted it on our "Asian Dreams" Youtube channel.  Here it is:  https://youtu.be/Z3zqS4XMzq4?si=U15hqctsyYXCKADI.  Thank you again!
