Nam Shan Campsite is one of the 41 campsites currently managed by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD).
It is a fairly large campsite located within the Lantau South Country Park at the intersection of sections 1 and 2 of the Lantau Trail. The campsite is built amidst woodland and an open valley, and situated right adjacent to the South Lantau Road, conveniently with its own Nam Shan bus stop.
The campsite is well-equipped with a large pavilion, barbeque pits, benches and tables, cloth lines, cooking places, camping platforms and bathrooms. Flushing toilet facility with extra sinks for cleaning is also available within the campsite, making this a very convenient campsite for beginners.
Opening in 1980, the campsite was one of the first official campsites in Hong Kong, and was refreshed and upgraded in 2020 according to the department's reply to questions from the Legislative Council (https://www.info.gov.hk/gia/general/202211/09/P2022110900418.htm).
