Ngong Ping Campsite (Lantau) is one of the 41 campsites currently managed by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD).
It is a relatively small campsite located within the Lantau South Country Park at the intersection of sections 3 and 4 of the Lantau Trail, as well as the Nei Lak Shan Country Trail. The campsite is built along a gentle slope in the woodland valley between Lantau Peak and Nei Lak Shan. Situated at ~460m above sea level, it is one of the highest official campsites in Hong Kong.
The campsite is well-equipped with amenities such as: benches, tables, cooking places, and camping platforms. A flushing toilet facility is also conveniently located less than 100m away.
The campsite was constructed in 2007, and was refreshed and upgraded in 2022 according to the department's reply to questions from the Legislative Council (https://www.info.gov.hk/gia/general/202211/09/P2022110900418.htm).
