Background

K. I. L. 413 was a large site bounded by Nathan Road on the east, Hankow Road on the west, Peking Road on the north and Middle Road on the south.

In the 1890s, Victoria View Terrace occupied the northern section of the lot. See here. By 1923, the Kowloon Hotel had occupied the southern portion.

With the demolition of Victoria View in December 1928, construction plans were made to build European flats and shops known as "Peking Buildings" on Nathan, Hankow and Peking Roads.

Building work began on the erection of Peking Buildings on the Nathan Road side of the lot. The 1930 Report of the Director of Public Works confirmed 5 European houses (5 shops and 15 flats) on K. I. L. 413, R.P., Nathan Road on 23-31 Nathan Road were completed.

The Airlie Hotel on 23-25 Nathan Road was opened in April 1930. A place marker has already been created for these buildings.

Demolition

Commenced around 1962. A new building, Alpha House was completed in 1964 with a street address of 27-33 Nathan Road.
